Yes, that's what Gary (Whitebroncoii) called it in that thread I linked to, earlier. It's an OSB type material.......smaller particles than what I'm used to seeing in OSB, but larger than particle board.

Dunno about yours, I was just responding to OG, though there was someone that posted pics of an 828 made from Enviroboard and the only reason I know Altec ever used it at all.

Yeah, if this is ~accurate, it's mostly a bonding agent: http://www.iagram.com/components/com...1771689815.jpg

Are you saying it's more bonding agent than wood? What I see is clearly wood pieces.

Again, based solely on the rendering, it certainly seems that way, but never having seen any 'in the flesh', no clue what the ratio might be. Note too that by 'bonding agent' I'm assuming it's a mix of fine dust plus binder same as with PB and some other composites/press board construction panels I'm aware of from my days of designing electrical systems for the pulp n' paper industry.

I did a search to see if there was any locally to look at, but found none, though this Enviroboard Altec 'sub' ad popped up down in Fla., so beginning to wonder if it was spec'd. for [near] tropic apps:

For what a Wikipedia entry is worth...

"Enviroboard is a construction panel, generally manufactured using compressed ecologically safe sourced material. Most often this means employing the use of agricultural waste fibres, such as the post-harvest straw of rice, barley, wheat, and elephant grass or alternatively, a more urban waste stream such as newspaper fibre.

Construction panels built from agricultural wastes have been around for hundreds of years, especially in Central and Eastern Europe where pressed leaves and straw were used as insulation and even structural material. Environmental board panels should not be confused with straw bale construction which does not process waste fibres into a compressed standardized board panel.

The concept of environmental construction panels dovetails with the principles of sustainability, namely reducing the impact that the entire life-cycle of constructing built environments has on the environment."

Re: loaded 816VI cabinets on ebay

I think comparing Altec's Enviroboard to something available today is a mistake. This was the late 90's before being "green" had dollar signs attached to it. Enviroboard is just a name, it's not a specification.

I'll see if I can find a picture. I might have one on my photobucket account.

Edit: I can't find the pictures I was thinking of. I'll see if I can take some new ones and get them posted.
